Generals Win Squeaker, 3-2, Over Terriers

The Atlanta Generals got a stellar effort from pitcher Gary Ovitt, helping Atlanta score a win over the visiting Boston Terriers, 3-2. Atlanta reliever Ron Winder was the winner. His record is now 6-7. Steve Papa took the loss. Ray Norton recorded his 2nd save for Atlanta.
Had Joe Bailey not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Bailey hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Generals.
"Gutsy performance by Gary," said Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie.
Atlanta has now won 4 games in a row.
