Hurons Beat Atlanta, 7-6
|
The Toronto Hurons topped the Atlanta Generals, 7-6, in 14 innings. Toronto third baseman Jeff McPhearson, in particular, was impressive. He went 4-6 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Reliever Tom DeGagne picked up the win. His record improves to 2-2. Ray Norton took the loss. The defeat makes Atlanta 56-76.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the 14th. With no one out, McPhearson hit a slider from Ray Norton for a solo home run. The Hurons, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," McPhearson said.
