Explorers Lose By a Run at Brooklyn
The Brooklyn Bluebirds did just enough to sneak past the St. Louis Explorers, 5-4, at Flatbush Park. Brooklyn pitcher Frank D'Amico, in particular, had a standout performance. D'Amico yielded 3 runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 2-4. Dave Norman sewed up the save, his 6th.

Ernie White dealt the Explorers a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with a runner on 2nd and Brooklyn leading 4-1, White, who is tied for 8th in the NBL in triples with 8, hit a 1-2 circle change for a run-scoring single.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood. "But we decided not to take it."

Brooklyn raised its record to 69-64 with the win.
