In a tight contest between the Los Angeles Pobladores and the Toronto Hurons, Carlos Novoa was the determining factor. The Los Angeles right-hander sparkled in his team's 3-2 win. Phil Lester, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 15th save. The loss makes Toronto 52-80.
Ron Somers, who finished 5th in the ABL in on-base percentage with .397 in 1970, chipped in a 2-run home run for Los Angeles in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Los Angeles manager Alex Wobbema.
