Empires Trip Hawks, 6-5, in Extra Innings
The New York Empires had to overcome a big game from Chicago right fielder Mark Morris to leave Queens Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-5, in 13 innings. Morris slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The win makes New York 67-67.

The decisive blow was delivered by Dave Helms in the bottom of the 13th when he hit a solo home run off 23-year old right-handed pitcher Tanner Latour to win the game for New York. The home crowd went nuts.

"It's what good teams do, find a way to win," said Helms.
