The Cleveland Bobcats besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Philadelphia second baseman Ron Paige by beating the Quakers, 10-8, at Quakers Stadium. Paige went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. Picking up his 2nd save was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Steve Cheatham. The loss makes Philadelphia 63-72.

Rick Gruber came through with a big-time hit for Cleveland. The pinch hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 10-8. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

Gruber said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
