Boone, Emeralds March to 7-3 Victory
|
Seattle and Chicago got after it at Hyde Park Stadium.
The Seattle Emeralds knocked off the Chicago Hawks, 7-3, at Hyde Park Stadium. Freddie Boone was a big reason Seattle won. The left fielder was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Tommy Westfield picked up the win, lifting his record to 1-3 on the season. He struck out 2 and walked 5 in 7.1 innings, while yielding 3 runs.
Early in the game, Boone had a run-scoring double for Seattle. It was his 19th double of the season and put the Emeralds on top, 1-0.
"From the last whatever, five, six, seven games, there's really only one way to go and that's up," said losing manager Mike Flaherty.
The slumping Hawks have dropped 6 in a row.
