Cleveland Tacks 5-0 Loss on Philadelphia
|
The Cleveland Bobcats reigned over the Philadelphia Quakers in damp conditions.
Larry Messenger pitched a gem to lead Cleveland to victory over the Philadelphia Quakers, 5-0. The Quakers, at 50-83, have lost 4 straight games.
Cleveland shortstop Ernie Wilkins contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 84th hit of the season and put the Bobcats ahead, 1-0.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Wilkins.
