Boston Dealt 6-1 Defeat
|
The Boston Terriers had their hands full with Houston Drillers starter Tom McAteer, who frustrated Boston hitters while leading Houston to a comfortable, 6-1 win. McAteer got the win, improving to 14-11. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed 1 run. The second-place Drillers have won 5 in a row.
The Drillers got a big at-bat from first baseman Mike Wells. For the game, Wells went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 16th double of the season gave Houston a 2-1 lead.
"I thought we played a nice game," McAteer told the Houston Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
