With first baseman David Davalos leading the charge, the Twin Cities Northmen defeated the Detroit Wolverines, 7-4, at Twin Cities Stadium. Davalos, who finished 4th in the NBL in on-base percentage with .413 in 1969, was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The 5th-place Northmen hiked their record to 64-69.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the sixth, with the game tied, Carl Jacobs was at the plate when Twin Cities scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Northmen to go in front, 4-3.

"I like to keep things lively in the clubhouse," said Jacobs. "Believe me, it's much easier after a win."
