Loss to Packers Extends Washington Losing Streak
|
In the 9-7 Cincinnati win over Washington, the impact of Mike Clement was substantial. Clement, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1971 draft, went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Art Ledington closed it out for Cincinnati, earning his 4th save. The Cincinnati winning streak has reached 3 games.
Jerry Anderson had a big 2-run double for the Packers in the top of the fourth inning. With Cincinnati leading 5-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a curveball from former first round draft pick Pedro Nunez and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Packers ahead, 7-2.
"You start putting runs on the board and winning, everyone's going to get excited," said Anderson.
