Habitants Defeat Drillers, 6-3
The Montreal Habitants topped the Houston Drillers, 6-3, in American Baseball League action at LaSalle Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Montreal pitcher and Grand Rapids, Michigan, native Mel Calef. With the win, the Habitants improved to 72-62.

Montreal got a knockout punch from Don Hill. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

Hill called getting the win a "good ending to a long game."
