Behind an impressive start by Mike Gresley, Montreal beat Detroit, 2-1. Montreal improves to 84-49 with the win. They lead their division by 10 games.

Montreal won the game in part because of Fernando Jimenez. The second baseman ripped a solo home run in the top of the second inning to put the Habitants ahead, 2-0. For the game, Jimenez had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"We were in it," said Detroit manager Kurt Peterson. "We just didn't score enough runs."
