Bobcats Lose, 6-1
|
Dick Conway, who led the NBL in wins with 21 in 1967, was terrific for the Brooklyn Bluebirds in his team's 6-1 triumph over the Cleveland Bobcats. His performance earned Conway rave reviews. The victory gives Brooklyn a record of 74-61.
Bob Rawlins had a big 2-run home run for the Bluebirds in the top of the third inning. With Brooklyn leading 2-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a cutter from Scott Dubyak, who finished 3rd in the ABL in innings pitched with 251.2 in 1970, and punished it. The result was his 22nd home run of the season, which put the Bluebirds on top, 4-0.
"Dick pitches with such conviction and you see it in his body language, you see it in his attack plan," said Brooklyn manager John Meeker.
