The Detroit Wolverines had to overcome a fine effort from Montreal pitcher Rich Barron to win, 5-4, at Wolverine Field. Barron went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Paul Carter claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 2-2. The loss makes Montreal 9-5.

Detroit took a 5-4 lead on Pete Morrison's 4th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Morrison hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Montreal pitcher Hervé Lelièvre visibly frustrated.

Detroit manager Alex Wobbema commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
