Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Explorers
|
The St. Louis Explorers got a magnificent effort from pitcher Ramon Juarez, who kept Brooklyn hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Explorers win at Corps of Discovery Stadium. Rick Morton came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 5-3. The win puts the Explorers at 76-60, while the Bluebirds drop to 70-67.
The decisive blow was delivered by Freddie Boone in the bottom of the 13th when he hit a solo home run off 34-year old left-handed pitcher Bill Keiser to win the game for St. Louis. The home crowd went nuts.
"Our guys refused to lose," said Boone.
