Brooklyn third baseman Wade Fields was instrumental in helping the Bluebirds triumph, 7-4, over the St. Louis Explorers. Fields was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. With the win, Brooklyn goes to 70-65, while the Explorers fall to 66-69.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Fields hit a run-scoring single off Bob Trout. It propelled the Bluebirds into the lead, 4-3.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Fields told the Brooklyn Gazette.
