Knickerbockers Come Up Short at Kansas City, 3-2
|
The Kansas City Bulls scored a tight, 3-2 win versus the New York Knickerbockers at Independence Field. Kansas City pitcher Waldo Hardaway held his own in the contest. Bob Crosby finished to wrap up his 31st save. The second-place Bulls are 74-60.
An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Bulls shortstop Mario Alva hit a sinker from Sid Shafer for a 2-run single. Just like that, Kansas City was up, 2-1.
Alva told a Kansas City News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
