Bobcats Earn Win with Late Rally
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Cleveland Bobcats and Philadelphia Quakers.
Philadelphia got a terrific game from catcher Greg Kaminski. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Cleveland, 3-2. Kaminski went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2. Frank Rudin earned the save, his 5th in 6 tries.
Rick Gruber came through with a big-time hit for Cleveland. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Cleveland manager Daniel Mays. "It's usually not just one thing."
The Bobcats saw their record improve to 71-65.
