Knickerbockers Pin 9-2 Loss on St. Louis
The New York Knickerbockers pinned a convincing loss on the St. Louis Explorers, 9-2, at Knickerbocker Stadium. Jeff Madsen was a main factor in the win. He was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for New York. The winning pitcher was Bob Brion. His record now stands at 1-0. The right-hander went 7.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits for the Knickerbockers. New York is 69-67 and St. Louis, with the loss, 76-61.

New York shortstop Dwayne Lamons contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 94th hit of the season and put the Knickerbockers ahead, 4-0.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Madsen told the New York Today. "It's as simple as that."
