Industrials Sneak Past Blockbusters, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Pittsburgh Industrials and the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 25-year old right-handed pitcher Gene Steinhauer proved to be the difference. The Pittsburgh right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Industrials win. Pittsburgh reliever Mike Gresley was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Ralph Weintraub took the loss. John Fagan, credited with the save, is now 2 for 2 in save opportunities.
Don Keough, who is tied for 9th in the NBL in bases on balls with 70, had a direct impact on the outcome. Keough contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 2-1.
"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Steinhauer said.
The National Baseball League Eastern Division-leading Industrials are 84-53.
