The first-place Pittsburgh Industrials took on the San Diego Captains in front of a spirited crowd.

Behind a fine performance from Carlos Chavez, the Pittsburgh Industrials knocked off the San Diego Captains, 7-4. Chavez was 4-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 for the Industrials. Pittsburgh pitcher Marty Clark got the win, upping his record to 12-7. Jeff Ferguson got the loss. Ike Travis, credited with the save, is now 38 for 44 in save opportunities.

The Industrials got a big at-bat from catcher Terry McClellan. For the game, McClellan was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Pittsburgh a 5-3 lead.

"It was a good night for them and a bad night for us," said San Diego manager Joe Mack.

Pittsburgh improves to 81-57 with the win. They lead their division by 10 games.
