Pobladores Reel Off Another Win
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Baltimore Lords and Los Angeles Pobladores get after it.
The Los Angeles Pobladores picked up a win at San Vicente Park, knocking off the Baltimore Lords, 7-3. Starting pitcher Jim Arndt played a key role in the triumph. Los Angeles pitcher Rick Furlong earned the win, hiking his record to 2-2. John Gannon suffered the loss.
Ron Somers, who finished 5th in the ABL in on-base percentage with .397 in 1970, took Baltimore hurler John Gannon deep in the bottom of the seventh. His 2-run home run put the Pobladores on top, 4-3. In all, Somers had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Somers.
Baltimore's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
