The Detroit Wolverines defeated the Baltimore Lords, 4-2, in American Baseball League action at Wolverine Field. Detroit pitcher Juan Rodriguez had a standout performance. Alfredo Morales converted his 7th save in 8 tries. Detroit is now 70-66, while Baltimore is 69-68.

The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but William Matz didn't flinch. With a runner on 2nd and Baltimore trailing 3-2, Matz retired Tim McNeely to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Matz, with a wink.
