Montreal got a valiant performance from pitcher Rich Barron, but it wasn't enough to beat the Atlanta Generals. Atlanta won the game, 4-3. Barron threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Ron Winder was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 22 of 32 save opportunities. The win gives Atlanta a season record of 75-62.

Atlanta used a timely hit from Matt Legrow to get the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Generals ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"I was a little disappointed," said Montreal manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
