Quakers Sneak By Packers, 3-2

Philadelphia turned a good effort from starter Juan Trujillo into a win over the Cincinnati Packers at Quakers Stadium. The final score was 3-2. Philadelphia reliever Sid Shafer picked up the win, upping his record to 10-6. Alex Fonseca took the loss. Rich Hodge was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.
Had Dick Hayes not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Hayes hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Quakers.
After the game, Philadelphia manager Jeff Green applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
The current losing streak for Cincinnati has reached 8 games.
