Hawks Top Emeralds in Extras, 6-4
The Chicago Hawks defeated the Seattle Emeralds, 6-4, in 11 innings. Much of the credit belonged to shortstop Ron Brown, who went 3-4 with 3 doubles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Hawks. The triumph makes Chicago 41-97.

Chicago used the timely hitting of Lou Middleton to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Hawks on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Hawks manager Mike Flaherty.
