Generals Shut Out Habitants, Combs Winner
|
Frank Combs was sneaky fast, on the mark, and hard to hit. He led the Atlanta Generals to victory, 4-0, blanking the Montreal Habitants on 4 hits. He had no walks and 4 strikeouts.
"You know what he's going to throw. You know what to expect. And you still can't hit it," Montreal skipper Michel Alexandre Cauchon told reporters after the shutout loss. "He just had a real deceptive fastball today and he was throwing it for strikes."
So far this year, Combs has made 29 starts, tossed 223.2 innings, struck out 178 batters and walked 42. His record is 15-6 with a 1.69 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .197 batting average.
