The Cleveland Bobcats beat the Washington Eagles, 9-3, at Lakefront Stadium. Phil Chirico, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1972, starred for Cleveland. He was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Cleveland is now 66-73. Washington is 59-81.
Benito Olivas had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for Cleveland. With the bases loaded and the Bobcats leading 3-2, he hit a sacrifice fly.
