The Denver Burros withstood an impressive performance by Chicago center fielder Fran Precourt to defeat the Traders, 5-4, at Gates Crescent Park. Precourt went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs. Manny Esparza, who finished 4th in the ABL in strikeouts with 206 in 1969, was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-3. The losing pitcher was Randy Weisenberg. Denver raised its record to 91-50 with the win.

The decisive blow was delivered by Jim Bitting in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a 2-run double off 26-year old left-handed pitcher Randy Weisenberg to win the game for Denver. The home crowd went nuts.

"This is a resilient bunch," said Denver manager Clark Anderson.
