Explorers Beat Kansas City, 3-2
Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the St. Louis Explorers and Kansas City Bulls.

St. Louis right-hander Danny Prentice helped his team edge Kansas City by the score of 3-2. Prentice kept the opposing lineup in check. Bernie Tate, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1969 draft, was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was Ron Bargiel. Marty Clark, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.

St. Louis used a timely hit from Chuck Panetta to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Explorers ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"We busted our tails," said Kansas City manager DD Martin. "But we came up short."

The win puts St. Louis at 7-8.
