Dario Fontanez, who is tied for 9th in the NBL with a 1.80 ERA, played a key role in a gritty 1-0 Los Angeles Blockbusters win against the Denver Burros. Fontanez, now 2-1, was the winner. In 10 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing no runs. The win gives Los Angeles a record of 8-7.

The decisive blow was delivered by Harvey Katzen in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off two-time All-Star Bruce Cardenas to win the game for Los Angeles. The home crowd went nuts.

"I went out and just tried to do my job," said Fontanez.
