Dallas Beaten, 5-3, by Twin Cities
|
Dallas got a terrific performance from pitcher Steve Coomes, but it wasn't enough to beat the Twin Cities Northmen. Twin Cities won the Bluff Park contest, 5-3. Coomes threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Bill Smith, who signed a 2-year contract worth $720,000 on 02/04/1977, was the winner in relief. His record is now 7-4. The losing pitcher was Dario Perez. Steve Eaton earned the save for Twin Cities.
Mike McGurn came through with a big-time hit for Twin Cities. The pinch hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Twin Cities manager Jason Gudim.
Twin Cities is now 69-73. Dallas is 75-65.
