Eagles Absorb 6-4 Home Loss
|
The Explorers grabbed a win, 6-4, at Monument Field, overcoming a fine effort from Washington pitcher Mark Sanders. Sanders went 5 innings and allowed 1 run. Robbie Goolsby earned the save, his 8th in 12 tries. The St. Louis winning streak has reached 3 games.
St. Louis used a clutch at-bat from Gary Parker to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Explorers ahead, 6-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Winning never gets dull," said Parker.
