Empires Stun Habitants, 3-2
|
New York turned a good effort from starter Larry Stanford into a win over the Montreal Habitants at Queens Field. The Empires won the game, 3-2. Stanford, who is a two-time All-Star, went the distance for New York. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. The second-place Empires have won 4 in a row.
Darryl Hatton was the walk-off hero for New York. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Empires pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
Said Hatton: "What's not to like about a walk-off win?"
