Houston's Rick McStay brought his best stuff to Sam Houston Field, shutting down and shutting out the Los Angeles Pobladores, 3-0. He racked up 7 strikeouts, surrendered 5 hits, and issued no walks on his way to the victory.

"We barely made him work at all," Los Angeles manager Kurt Peterson said later. "Houston could probably pitch him again tomorrow if they wanted."
