The Twin Cities Northmen defeated the Houston Drillers, 9-4. Shortstop Buddy Shingleton deserved a large share of the credit. Shingleton went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Northmen. Jeff Jordan was the winner. He's now 6-13. The loser was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Dave Van Loon. The win elevated the Northmen to 75-67.

Steve Garcia had a big grand slam home run for the Northmen in the bottom of the third inning. With Twin Cities trailing 2-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a fastball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Dave Van Loon and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Northmen on top, 4-2.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Garcia. "And not try to do too much."
