Wranglers Prevail, 3-1, Over Houston
In a low-scoring contest between the Dallas Wranglers and the Houston Drillers, 24-year old left-handed pitcher Ed Payne proved to be the difference. The Dallas left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Wranglers win. The Drillers fall to 6-9 and continue their lackluster start to the 1972 season.

Dallas took a 2-0 lead on Payne's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Larry Bilski in the top of the seventh, propelled Dallas to the win.

"I executed the game plan," said Payne.
