Streaking Eagles Win Another One, 4-2
|
Washington turned a good performance from starting pitcher Mike Cooper into a 4-2 triumph over the New York Knickerbockers at Monument Field. Curt Kirkley snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2 innings. He's now 2-0 on the season. Richie Kingery recorded the save, his 3rd.
Gary Long, who is tied for 8th in the NBL in triples with 1, helped out the Washington cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the shortstop was 1-5.
"I like how we're playing right now," said Long.
The Knickerbockers drop to 5-10.
