The Denver Burros locked up a win at Union Field, knocking off the Chicago Traders, 6-2. On the mound for Denver was left-hander Bart Dunsley. He played a major role in the triumph. Dunsley, now 17-8, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The win lifted the Denver record to 86-58.

Ken Hussey had a big 2-run home run for the Burros in the top of the fifth inning. With Denver leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Marty Arnold and punished it. The result was his 27th home run of the season, which put the Burros on top, 4-0.
