Quakers Score Late, Clip Industrials, 4-3
|
Fans watched the Philadelphia Quakers and the Pittsburgh Industrials fight to the finish.
The Philadelphia Quakers faced a tough opponent in Pittsburgh pitcher Dennis Visco, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Allegheny Field by a final score of 4-3 in 10 innings. Visco went 7.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Philadelphia has run its win streak to 4 in a row.
Philadelphia used the timely hitting of Gordy Ferris to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Quakers on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Ferris called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
