Seagulls Win Streak Reaches 6
|
The San Francisco Seagulls scooped up a win at Mission Field, dumping the Seattle Emeralds, 5-2. Pete Ragsdale, who finished 4th in the ABL in ERA with 1.98 in 1967, was essential to his team's success. Ragsdale yielded 2 runs over 8.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 8-8. Paul Wiley was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 12 of 16 save opportunities.
The Seagulls got a big at-bat from first baseman Bob Raab. For the game, Raab was 1 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 13th double of the season gave San Francisco a 1-0 lead.
"Pete did a nice job," said Seagulls manager Al Borie.
The first-place Seagulls have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
