Traders Earn 4-3 Win Versus Quakers
The Chicago Traders racked up a win at Quakers Stadium, bumping off the Philadelphia Quakers, 4-3. Bobby Peters, who started for Chicago, pitched effectively for his team. Randy Birch came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. At 2-0, the Traders have played well so far.

Chicago used the timely hitting of Walt McCord to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 13th inning to put the Traders on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Larry Link.
