Pobladores Stay Hot, Beat Wranglers, 4-1
The Los Angeles Pobladores downed the Dallas Wranglers, 4-1, at Bluff Park. Stellar pitching by Carlos Novoa had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1968 draft, handcuffed his opponent all game. Novoa, now 9-7, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Now 80-64, the Pobladores have won 12 in a row.

Los Angeles used the hitting of Roger McCoy to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Pobladores on top, 3-1. For the game, McCoy had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Carlos throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Los Angeles manager Alex Wobbema.
