Chicago Beats Washington, 5-3
|
Washington right fielder Hector Disla had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-3, to Chicago at Monument Field. Disla went 4-4 with 4 singles. Jose Mojica, who went 8.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 10 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 3-0. Jimmy Calhoun recorded the save, his 2nd.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Greg Russell to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Traders on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
After the game, Chicago manager Larry Link applauded the team's effort. "We put some good AB's together," he said.
The win brings the Traders to 9-6, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
