The Houston Drillers downed the Dallas Wranglers, 4-0, at Bluff Park. Stellar pitching by Francisco Castro had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who finished 4th in the NBL in strikeouts with 157 last year, handcuffed his opponent all game. Castro yielded no runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 12-9. The win for the Drillers raised their record to 74-69.

The Drillers got a big at-bat from center fielder Mickey Hoffman. For the game, Hoffman was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Houston a 2-0 lead.
