Knickerbockers Trip Quakers, 8-5, in Extra Innings
The New York Knickerbockers battled the Philadelphia Quakers into extra innings before the outcome was decided. The Knickerbockers won it, finally, 8-5, in 11 innings. In the game, New York catcher Rick Hotz was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. The winner in relief was Ollie Hundley. He is now 6-3. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. The 4th-place Knickerbockers hiked their record to 70-74.

Javier Guerra came through with a big-time hit for New York. The left fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 8-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Guerra.
