Packers Edge Bobcats, 2-1
|
The Packers faced a stiff challenge from Cleveland pitcher Rick Tomlinson, but persevered to claim a win at Lakefront Stadium. The final score was 2-1. Tomlinson went 9 innings and allowed 2 runs. Joe Clabaugh got credit for the win, improving to 12-10. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits in 6.2 innings. With the victory, the Packers upped their record to 73-72.
Cincinnati took advantage of an error in the top of the sixth inning. The game was tied, 0-0, when David Davalos hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Packers in front, 1-0.
"Every loss stings," said Cleveland manager Daniel Mays. "This one is no exception."
