Brooklyn Bluebirds starter Damon Rutherford turned in a top-notch performance against the New York Knickerbockers at Flatbush Park. The result was a win for the Bluebirds, 3-2. The triumph puts Brooklyn at 72-72 for the season.
Had Kermit McDaniel not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, McDaniel hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Bluebirds.
"For the most part, I felt like I did a pretty good job with executing the pitches I was throwing," said Rutherford.
