Milwaukee pitcher Lewis Smith had a large part in his team beating the Washington Eagles, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Arnie Keilman was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 22 of 25 save opportunities. Today's win puts Milwaukee at 77-68, while Washington falls to 65-82.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Cliff Bragg? The 26-year old shortstop Bragg stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Milwaukee up, 3-2. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Smith told the Milwaukee Today.
