Eagles Earn 6-5 Win Versus Bluebirds
|
The Washington Eagles took Damon Rutherford's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Monument Field. The final score had Washington getting past the Bluebirds, 6-5, in 15 innings. Rutherford over 10 innings allowed 4 runs on 10 hits, while striking out 10. Washington reliever Tommy Morton snagged the win, upping his record to 1-2. Tom Keller shouldered the loss. The Eagles are now 67-77, while the Bluebirds fall to 58-86.
The Eagles got a clutch hit from first baseman John Ellison. In the bottom of the 15th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Eagles.
"Big win," said Ellison.
