The Denver Burros beat the Cleveland Bobcats, 3-2, at Lakefront Stadium. The Burros got a fine performance from left fielder Guillaume Moret, who was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. Jim Thurlow, the winner, improved to 10-4. He held the Bobcats to 1 run on 3 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 1 and walking 4. Denver, at 94-53, is 8½ games up in the National Baseball League Western Division.

Denver took a 3-1 lead on Moret's 24th home run of the season. The solo home run, which he hit off Myron Baird in the top of the sixth, propelled Denver to the win.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Denver manager Clark Anderson. "It's usually not just one thing."
