Guerra Shines in 12-5 New York Win
Led by Javier Guerra, the New York Knickerbockers defeated the Philadelphia Quakers, 12-5. Guerra was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Knickerbockers. New York, at 71-75, holds down 4th place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.

The Knickerbockers got a big hit from third baseman Steve Wells. Facing Philadelphia pitcher Chris Barto in the bottom of the fifth, Wells pounded a 2-run double to right-center. His 30th double of the season put the Knickerbockers ahead, 6-3.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Guerra told the New York Observer. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
