New York Knickerbockers starter Jack Forbes pitched a strong game against the Philadelphia Quakers at Quakers Stadium, leading the Knickerbockers to victory, 5-2. Wayne Houston collected his 20th save. The 4th-place Knickerbockers hiked their record to 71-74.

Rick Hotz came through with a big-time hit for New York. The catcher smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"My job is to go out and execute," said Forbes.
