The Houston Drillers picked up a win at San Vicente Park, taking down the Los Angeles Pobladores, 5-4. Starting pitcher Tom McAteer was a big reason why. McAteer, now 16-11, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 3 runs. With the victory, the Drillers upped their record to 81-65.

Brian Fitch came through with a big-time hit for Houston. The first baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to give his team the lead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Tom's as tough as he is talented," said Houston manager Jared Placeholder.
