Quakers Turn Back St. Louis, 4-3
|
Philadelphia picked up a win at Quakers Stadium, toppling the St. Louis Explorers, 4-3. Pitcher Gabe Magana was one of the reasons the Quakers triumphed. Magana went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 9-9. The win puts Philadelphia at 78-68 this season.
Philadelphia took a 4-3 lead on Fred Johnson's 10th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off St. Louis pitcher Pat Burkholder in the bottom of the seventh.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Johnson said.
