|
New York Empires starter Larry Stanford turned in an exceptional performance against the Baltimore Lords at Queens Field, resulting in a New York win, 2-1. The winner was Stanford. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Nate Summers. Bruce Shone, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Dave Matuzak, who is tied for 7th in the ABL in triples with 1, chipped in a 2-run home run for New York in the bottom of the second. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"Larry did a good job keeping the game under control," said New York manager Jose Placeholder.
New York goes to 6-9.
