Generals 7-2 Winners Over Detroit
Atlanta beat Detroit in a rain-soaked ballgame.

Atlanta pitcher Damon Rutherford did his part in helping his team defeat the Detroit Wolverines, 7-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Today's win puts Atlanta at 68-78, while Detroit falls to 67-80.

Atlanta used the hitting of Richie Lord to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Generals on top, 5-2. For the game, Lord had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"I thought Damon threw the ball well across the board," said Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie.
